Mitch Mason is launching on Kickstarter its first timepiece, the Mitch Mason Chronicle. The Chronicle is Mitch Mason’s interpretation of the ideal field watch, a perfect mix between modern functionality and vintage design. It sports an automatic movement, a 200m water resistance with a screw-down crown, and a sapphire crystal.
The Chronicle epitomizes the definition of the «daily beater» watch, inspired from the design of military field watches of World War II, a defining era in the world of watch-making where men transitioned from pocket to wrist watches for their evident practicality. On the battlefield, it became a priority for soldiers to have a means to coordinate their maneuvers with extreme precision, yet be able to read time at a glance in any situation. Stirred by the rich history of the timepiece, the Chronicle has a solid build, high-contrast dial, and generously applied Super-LumiNova® lume for efficient time reading under all conditions.
The watch stays true to classic proportions. The modest 36.5mm case size and substantial 43.5mm lug to lug length yield the perfect balance between style and comfort for all wrist sizes. A blend of polishing and hand-brushing provides an elegant finish, only to enhance its versatility for wear in either elegant or adventurous environments. The distinct numerals and signature Mitch Mason hand-set provide excellent legibility, as expected of a field watch.
The Chronicle is built to withstand a beating. The fully machined 316L stainless steel case is decked out with a 200m water resistance, fortified by a screw-down crown and case-back. Its dial is protected with a double-domed sapphire crystal glass with 5 layers of anti-reflective coating on the underside.
Powered by the Miyota 9039 automatic movement, beating at 28,800bph (4Hz), the Chronicle offers 42 hours of power reserve. Hacking and hand winding functions enables one to synchronize the time with hairline accuracy on the go. Safeguarding every movement is a screw-down caseback, engraved with a delicate piece of artwork.
